How the Kromer tool retractor works:

Carl Stahl Kromer Spring balancers, often called retractors, are designed in a way that the retracting force increases with increasing cable extension. Thus, the working load (tool) is automatically retracted to its initial position after use. The advantage of spring balancers is, that the work place is kept free for other tools or devices, which also increases ergonomics and safety. Precise operation is assured as the retraction force increases gradually and very smooth.
